📖 About this course

The Canadian Securities Course (CSC) is the foundational professional qualification for investment dealers and registered representatives in Canada. Administered by the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI) based in Toronto, the CSC is required by CIRO (Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization, ex-IIROC) for any individual seeking registration to advise on or trade securities in Canada.

This bilingual course combines the CSC (two volumes / 28 chapters) with the Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH) — the second mandatory exam for full IIROC registration. Total study load is approximately 200-250 hours across both qualifications, completed within the 12-month registration deadline mandated by CIRO.

Au terme du cours, vous saurez (1) décrire les acteurs du marché canadien (CIRO ex-IIROC, MFDA fusionnée 2023, CIPF, CSA, AMF Québec), (2) appliquer la Know-Your-Client (KYC) et l obligation de suitability canadienne, (3) calculer le rendement d obligations gouvernementales et corporates canadiennes (Real Return Bonds, GoC Bonds, Provincial Bonds), (4) construire un portefeuille avec OPCVM, ETF et FNB canadiens, (5) appliquer la fiscalité canadienne (REER, CELI, FERR, REEE).

The exam comprises two CSC exams of 100 MCQ each (Volume 1, Volume 2), then the CPH exam of 110 MCQ. Passing grade : 60% per CSI standards (but most dealers internally require 70%+ for registration). Each exam costs ~CAD 240 (registration included in CSC bundle ~CAD 1 200, CPH ~CAD 750).
