Scientific Field

  • Common lab values (adult): K+ 3.5–5.0, Na+ 135–145, glucose 4–7 mmol/L, INR 2–3 on warfarin.
  • Hyperkalaemia ECG: peaked, symmetrical T waves, then widened QRS.
  • COPD: target SpO2 88–92% to avoid CO2 narcosis. Excessive O2 suppresses hypoxic drive.
  • Dosage calculation: e.g., heparin 18 IU/kg/h for an 80-kg patient with 25,000 IU in 250 mL D5W → 14.4 mL/h.
  • Hypoglycaemia (capillary glucose < 4 mmol/L): conscious patient — 15 g rapid carbohydrate.
